  • - Bowling Green R-1 School District Holiday Greeting Card Contest Winner Chosen! - The artwork of Bowling Green Elementary fourth-grade student Daymon Jennings will be featured in the Bowling Green R-1 School District Holiday Greeting Card from Superintendent Dr. Matt Frederickson Daymon’s artwork was selected from about 30 entries within the grades 4-5 art class taught by Lisa Shimp, art teacher.  Daymon is a student in Mrs. Blankenship’s           4th grade class and was notified today that his artwork      was selected. Additionally, Bailey Graves, a Bowling Green High School 11th grade student, designed an ornament in her metals class that has also been selected as the Holiday memento to be given to each district staff member this year.  The design intertwines the year 2020 with themes ...

  • - Update to recent guidance and Seasonal Reminders - BGR-1 Families and Staff,As the temperature starts to fall and winter approaches, we want to remind parents how they can stay informed when inclement weather affects school.  School closings, or early school dismissal, will be announced on the district website and sign as soon as the decision is made.  In addition, we will send emails and autodial phone calls and text messages to BGR-1 families.  Our community will also find accurate information about school closings on the following television stations:  WGEM, KTVI (Ch.2), and KSDK (Ch. 5), both TV and online, on the Townsquare Media Quincy/Hannibal KHMO‐AM/KICK‐FM/KRRY‐FM/WLIQ‐AM and KJFM (Eagle 102) radio stations and websites, The Bowling Green ...

  • -Updates to Missouri Schools Reopening and Operating Guidance - On Thursday, Governor Parson, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) announced a change to the Missouri School Reopening and Operating Guidance, loosening the quarantine rules for students and staff if the school has and enforces a mask mandate. Currently, the BGR-1 policies at our middle and high school allow for us to participate in this update. If a school district mandates that everyone wears masks, and if both the person who tests positive for the virus and their close contacts are wearing masks appropriately during the contact, the close contacts are not required to quarantine.
